We all know that behaviour modification and good vet care go hand in hand, but what about those tricky feline behaviour problems that are so entangled it needs more co-operation between the client’s behaviourist and vet? Looking at complex behaviours such as over-grooming, house soiling and even ‘humping’, this session is one not to miss. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll love. Just like West Side Story and Across the Barricades, this session will bring together two people from the different side of the tracks- a vet and a behaviourist- to guide you through the nuances of these pesky feline behaviour problems. Even if you don’t work with cats, this session is guaranteed to get you thinking about the complexities of dealing with challenging behaviours that have significant potential for under-lying medical issues.
Presenters Bios:
Daniel is a practicing Clinical Animal Behaviourist and has spent over a decade working in behaviour & training for the UKs biggest animal rescue and rehoming charities. Previously working with Battersea and as a behaviourist for the Dogs Trust where he had experience of working with some of the most challenging canine behaviour problems. Currently, he works as a behaviourist for Cats Protection, the UKs largest feline welfare charity. Daniel is a member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors. Daniel recently completed his Masters Degree in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law to build upon his undergraduate degree in Zoology with Animal Behaviour. Alongside working for Cats Protection, Daniel also works as a private behaviourist and he is also a volunteer dog trainer for Dog A.i.D UK, an organisation which helps owners with disabilities to train their dogs to become assistance dogs.
Lucinda graduated from the Royal Veterinary College. She had always wanted to work in the charitable sector, and so after graduating, she went to work for the PDSA. In 2013, Lucinda completed her General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Medicine which helped cement her interest in everything feline. Lucinda then moved to Cats Protection, where she can combine her love of feline medicine and welfare, with shelter medicine. Lucinda has a particular interest in contextualised care and its application in general practice. Lucinda gained membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the Medicine of Cats, in 2021.
