Associate Membership

£115.00 annual fee

Associate membership is open to those who have had their Knowledge and Understanding (theoretical understanding) assessed against the ABTC Standards for ABT or CAB.

This can be demonstrated via the ABTC APEL process or by completing an ABTC recognised course to an appropriate level.

Associate members are able to conduct behaviour consultations but have not yet achieved the requisite experience to become Full members.

Assessment of Knowledge and Understanding

Associate members are those that have demonstrated that they meet the ABTC role standard for required Knowledge and Understanding. This may have been via an ABTC recognised course or via the APEL assessment route.

Associate members are able to conduct behaviour consultations but have not yet achieved the requisite experience to become Full members.

Before continuing with your application to become an Associate Animal Behaviour Technician (ABT) or Associate Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB), please check if the academic course you completed is on the list of ABTC recognised courses.

Please Note: Anyone who qualified from an ABTC recognised course more than 5 years before applying for Associate membership, will be required to submit a list of CPD undertaken in the last 2 years. If your course is NOT listed, you will need to demonstrate that you have met the required Knowledge and Understanding requirements for the ABT or CAB role via the APEL process.

Commitment to Continuous Professional Development

Associate members are required to undertake a minimum of 30 hours of Continued Professional Development each year. This must include your reflections on the value of the CPD undertaken and how it will impact your practice. The APBC provides a wealth of webinars and conferences throughout the year to provide you with excellent opportunities for CPD.
